It's that time of year again – the time for new year's resolutions! As we say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new, many of us feel inspired to make positive changes in our lives. Whether you want to improve your health, strengthen your relationships, or achieve your goals, a new year is a perfect time to start.

So, what should your new year's resolution be?

That's entirely up to you! Some popular resolutions include losing weight, exercising, quitting smoking, saving money, and traveling. Whatever your resolution may be, the key is to make it specific, achievable, and measurable. For example, instead of resolving to "eat healthier," try deciding to eat two servings of vegetables every day." This specific, quantifiable goal will make it easier for you to track your progress and stay motivated.

Goals should be

  • Specific
  • Achievable
  • Measurable

Set Yourself Up For Success

  1. Create a Plan: To create new healthy habits, it is essential to have a plan in place. Determine how you will achieve your goal and plan how you will fit it into your schedule. Simply set aside time in your day for exercises and identifying activities you enjoy.
  2. Track Progress: Keeping track of your progress can help you stay on track and see your progress. Using apps like fitness trackers or habit checklists can help you be proud of how far you have gone.
  3. Create a support system and find an accountability partner: Bring your friends and family with you along the journey. Surround yourself with these people for extra encouragement and support. They will provide you with the necessary accountability you need to not fall off the rails.
  4. Don't Be Too Hard on yourself: It is normal to have setbacks and miss a few days here and there. Don't let this be a discouragement to your ultimate success! Get back on track as fast as possible. Better yet, make up your missed day or habit by working harder the next few days. Keeping things in perspective and being kind to yourself is also good idea. If you slip up or face setbacks, don't give up! Remember that it's okay to make mistakes and that progress often comes in fits and starts.
  5. Reward yourself for reaching milestones: It is nice to celebrate once in a while to celebrate your progress and motivate you even further in the day. Doing productive, healthier activities like a nice relaxing spa day is excellent for maximum rejuvenation.
